United Women in Germany: Day One

Monday 04 September 2023 19:00

Manchester United Women departed for Germany today (Monday) for a training camp and a pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich.

Marc Skinner's side trained at Carrington in the morning before catching a flight from Manchester Airport.

The group will spend the week at the adidas campus in Herzogenaurach, and face Bayern there on Wednesday.

The match will be the Reds' third pre-season game so far after a draw with Leicester City and win over Everton.

WELCOMING BACK THE LIONESSES

United's three World Cup Lionesses - Mary Earps, Ella Toone and Katie Zelem - reported back at Carrington for the first time since being away on England duty.

The trio were welcomed with a guard of honour formed by team-mates, staff and Academy players and were presented with flowers.

Earps, Toone and Zelem all played their part in Australia where England finished as runners-up to Spain.

TRAINING BEFORE TRAVEL

The full squad prepared for the trip to Germany with a gym session followed by training on the pitches.

This week will see them undergo a series of sessions at Herzogenaurach as well as having some downtime including bowling and meals out.

Following training, the players headed to the airport ready for the journey and were due to arrive at the campus in the evening.
