United Women in Germany: Day Two

Tuesday 05 September 2023 18:30

The sun is shining, there are smiles on the faces of the players but the determination and enthusiasm is clear to see in Germany.

After a long day of travelling on Monday, the players were out training on the adidas pitch ahead of Wednesday's game with Bayern Munich.

A FUN WAY TO GET TO TRAINING

With the gym and the pitch being away from the players' accommodation, it was time to get on the adidas bikes to make their way over.

Reds captain Katie Zelem was leading the way on one of her famous 'Zel's Tours' whilst Ella Toone admitted she was "not that good" on a bike.

The players had a great time cycling through the campus and the squad was really enjoying all being back together.

HARD WORK AND COMMITMENT

After an activation section in the gym, it was time to hit the pitch and get down to work.

Whilst there had been fun and joking up to that point, it was clear to see the players meant business and a hard training session began in the sun.

From drills for the returning players to match practice, the players worked hard until the final whistle.

LOOKING AHEAD TO MATCHDAY

United Women will take on Bayern Munich at the adidas campus this Wednesday with the full squad available to feature.

Speaking after the training session, manager Marc Skinner said: "It's a tough game but we want to challenge ourselves against the very best.

"We are going to face these tough challenges in the Champions League.

"Bayern are slightly ahead in their pre-season so it's going to be a big challenge but one I think we can take on.

"The players are working hard, they have a motivation. It's really important we get away together and this is the perfect place to do it."
