Early team news for United's clash with Cardiff

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be plotting his last line-up of the season ahead of the home game against Cardiff City on Sunday.

The Reds bring the curtain down on the campaign at the weekend against one of Ole's former clubs and there are a number of selection issues for the boss to ponder.

Eric Bailly is definitely ruled out with a knee problem while Romelu Lukaku joined the list of absentees for the 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town, when he was unavailable due to injury.

Alexis Sanchez goes down with an ankle injury during Sunday's draw at Huddersfield.

Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood also missed the clash at the John Smith's Stadium, and Alexis Sanchez was forced off with an ankle injury as United's hopes of finishing in the top four were ended.

The manager has already suggested to MUTV that 17-year-old striker Greenwood will hopefully be available for the match against the Bluebirds.

Chris Smalling was back among the substitutes last weekend, after sitting out the draw with Chelsea, but Sergio Romero was unavailable with an injury he sustained in training so Lee Grant was the back-up keeper to David De Gea.

There could be a chance for some youngsters to have a run-out, after Tahith Chong came off the bench at Huddersfield and almost scored the winner after a positive run down the left.

Angel Gomes and James Garner are also options after strong showings in the Under-23s and, of course, Greenwood may be fit in time to be considered.

Club captain Antonio Valencia has been back in training of late and could be a contender for a place in the squad.

Tahith Chong made an appearance off the bench at the John Smith's Stadium.

Cardiff will be without several players, including Matthew Connolly, Joe Ralls, Callum Paterson and key central defender Sol Bamba.

Harry Arter (calf strain) and Victor Camarasa (dead leg) are doubtful for Neil Warnock's men, whose relegation to the Championship was confirmed with last weekend's loss to Crystal Palace.

Ole is set to speak to MUTV and the press on Friday to provide an update on his squad for the last time this season.
