Erik explains his XI to face Real Betis
Erik ten Hag has explained his decision to hand Facundo Pellistri his first senior start for Manchester United.
The Uruguay international actually made his first Alaves start away to Real Betis, so the Andalucians will be familiar opposition for the winger in Thursday's Europa League round-of-16 second leg.
The Reds hold a 4-1 advantage from last week's contest at Old Trafford and are looking to advance into Friday's draw.
Harry Maguire is one of three other changes, coming into the team as captain, with Fred and Tyrell Malacia also introduced into the XI.
What is Erik's second-leg message?
The boss explains his message to the players before the second leg, and what he expects from Facundo Pellistri...
"First, they know the way of playing," Erik told MUTV about Pellistri and all of his younger players. "They know the rules, the principles of our game. Tactically, we expect from him today, runs in behind the line, the defending line, because there is a weakness, a weak spot from them. So we have to test them there and he can do the job."
Maguire and Malacia coming into the defence was also discussed by the boss.
"As well, but also with them two, they are outstanding players," he added. "They have proved that many times. We see it every time in training, they both train very well, and I also think that we can trust them and they have to do the job today."
In terms of a message to his side, it was simple. "Win the game," he instructed.
