Ten Hag names team to face Brighton

Saturday 16 September 2023 14:00

Erik ten Hag has selected his Manchester United side to take on Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

The Reds return to Premier League action with a number of absentees and Rasmus Hojlund has been handed their first Premier League start in the 15:00 BST kick-off, after an impressive substitute appearance at Arsenal.

Sergio Reguilon makes his United debut as the Tottenham loanee is drafted in at left-back, with Diogo Dalot switching to the opposite flank.

Lisandro Martinez is fit enough to start at centre-back, despite missing Argentina's two games during the international break. Victor Lindelof, like Martinez, withdrawn during the luckless defeat at Arsenal last time out, is his partner at the heart of the back four.

Scott McTominay is introduced to the XI, presumably to allow Bruno Fernandes to shift to the right side.

United are back in action against Brighton at Old Trafford and we were on hand to film the players arrive…

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is among the substitutes, with the boss saying the defender "wasn't that fit" and has had a "little bit of illness"

Exciting wingers Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri, plus central attacking option Anthony Martial are also in reserve for the Reds.

Brighton are without highly rated defender Pervis Estupinan and Solly March, while Evan Ferguson is only fit enough to start on the bench, with former Red Danny Welbeck leading the line. Jason Steele is preferred to Bart Verbruggen in goal as Roberto Di Zerbi makes six changes.
