Ten Hag competing for Manager of the Month prize

The winning run continued a week later, at Luton Town, with Hojlund - who is up for Player of the Month - at the double, before February ended in disappointing fashion against Fulham.

Harry Maguire’s equaliser preceded the announcement of nine minutes of injury time by referee Michael Oliver, but just as Old Trafford was expecting another last-gasp United intervention, Iwobi struck on the break.

Despite that setback, it was still a largely encouraging month in terms of results, with the Reds taking 12 points from a possible 15.

And Ten Hag is up against two big names as he seeks to add another Manager of the Month pot to the ones he previously claimed in September 2022, February 2023 and November 2023.

Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta must be considered the favourite, with the Gunners winning all four games in February, scoring 18 times and conceding just twice in the process.

Pep Guardiola is also in the running, as Manchester City won four and drew one of their five fixtures.
