Hojlund nominated for Premier League award
Rasmus Hojlund is in the running for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award, after a record-breaking February for the young Dane.
Our no.11 netted five times during the month to extend his ongoing top-flight scoring run to six straight games – only Ruud van Nistelrooy has ever managed a longer streak in a United shirt.
Having turned 21 at the beginning of February, Hojlund became the youngest player to register in half-a-dozen consecutive Premier League fixtures when scoring twice in his most recent league outing, at Luton Town.
Hojlund’s brace saw him eclipse the previous record-holder, Newcastle United's Joe Willock, by 258 days and his opening goal at Kenilworth Road, timed at 37 seconds, was also United’s quickest in Premier League history away from home.
Every goal Rasmus scored in February
With five goals in four games, it’s no surprise Rasmus Hojlund has been chosen as our Player of the Month...
The former Atalanta forward showcased his ability to score all types of goals during February, with his first being bundled home from a Luke Shaw cross at Wolves in a 4-3 thriller.
Three days later, he sashayed past a couple of West Ham defenders and slammed home our first of three against West Ham United.
And Rasmus also made it on to the scoresheet at Aston Villa, ghosting in to convert from Harry Maguire’s knockdown at Villa Park.
Unfortunately, Rasmus had to miss our final league appointment of February due to injury, although the Dane was in the stands to watch the home defeat to Fulham and we’re sure he’ll be raring to get back involved when he can.
Only Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka scored more goals than Hojlund in February, and the England winger is one of six players competing with our man for the prize.
Phil Foden (Manchester City), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) and Rodrigo Muniz (Fulham) were also among the goals, while Pascal Gross notched four assists for Brighton & Hove Albion across the month.
Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes has also been recognised for his displays in helping Gary O’Neil’s side record notable victories at Chelsea and Tottenham.
You can aid Rasmus's bid see off the opposition and win a first Player of the Month prize, though.
Simply vote for Hojlund here before the polls close at 12:00 GMT on Monday 4 March. Fingers crossed!
