Ten Hag's update on injured United trio

Friday 25 August 2023 13:30

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has spoken about the injuries to Mason Mount and Luke Shaw for the first time, ahead of our Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.

The boss provided an update on the pair during the first part of his pre-match press conference at our Carrington training base, ahead of Saturday's Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.

It was announced on Tuesday that Mount will be out until next month's international break with a problem picked up at Tottenham last week, while it has since been confirmed that Shaw has sustained a muscle issue which will also keep him out of the forthcoming games.

''We can't do that," Erik said, when asked to give more detail on the injuries to Mount and Shaw.

"For some period, they will be absent. Luke will be [out] longer than Mason.''

Ten Hag also spoke about Shaw's fellow left-back, Tyrell Malacia.

The full-back has been sidelined since before our first pre-season match with an issue and is yet to return.

"It will also take a few weeks before he will be back," the boss added on Malacia.

"Definitely we have solutions in our squad to cope with that. We thought before the season about this scenario, what could happen. You hope to avoid this scenario, that's also clear, but if it happens, you have to be ready for it. And we are ready to deal with it."
