Venue change for Everton v United WSL fixture

Tuesday 11 February 2020 10:17

Manchester United Women’s match against Everton on Sunday 23 February will take place at Walton Hall Park, the Toffees’ new stadium.

The WSL clash later this month will be Everton’s first match at the venue, with Willie Kirk’s side playing their home games at Southport’s Haig Avenue so far this campaign.

With work still being carried out at Walton Hall Park, the capacity for the ground’s maiden game is set to be capped at 1,500.

United supporters who wish to purchase tickets for the game must book via Everton’s website - which you can access here - and no tickets will be sold at the ground on the day of the fixture.

This will be the first time Casey Stoney’s Reds have travelled to Everton for an away league fixture, however, we have twice before faced the Toffees on their patch and have won on both occasions.

Last season United beat Everton 3-0 in the Continental League Cup, while in November 2019 we overcame the Merseysiders by the same scoreline, with this win again coming in the League Cup.
Lauren James, Katie Zelem and Amy Turner were on target for the Reds that afternoon, while we also beat Everton 3-1 a month later - this time during a league fixture at Leigh Sports Village - meaning United have won all three previous clashes against Everton.

The two teams are currently separated by just one point in the WSL, with United in fourth and Everton fifth in the table.

However, before our trip to Walton Hall Park, United face Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday night (19:45 GMT kick-off) at Crawley Town’s The People's Pension Stadium.
