Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri has rejoined Spanish side Deportivo Alaves on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old, who signed for the Reds in October 2020, spent the second half of last term with the La Liga outfit and will now continue his footballing journey at the club in the upcoming campaign.

The move comes off the back of some promising pre-season showings in a United shirt from Pellistri, who most notably netted what turned out to be the winning goal in our pre-season opener at Derby County.

Facundo Pellistri starred in United's pre-season campaign, scoring this goal against Derby in July...

Having joined the Reds from hometown club Penarol in the opening weeks of the previous campaign, the young Uruguayan made his mark in the Under-23s setup while adapting to life in England last winter, scoring three times and providing one assist in eight competitive appearances, before making the move to Alaves in January in order to gain further experience of senior football.

During his time at the Mendizorrotza Stadium, the teenager featured 12 times and impressed while on the pitch, helping the club to secure their top-flight status in La Liga with a 16th-place finish at the end of the season.

Pellistri will now be heading back to the division, off the back of another productive experience in professional football during this pre-season with United.

As well as netting the decisive goal at Derby, the winger set up Jesse Lingard's opener against Queens Park Rangers before featuring in front of around 30,000 fans at Old Trafford versus Brentford, in the days that followed.

Pellistri has shown plenty of promise for the Reds in pre-season over recent weeks.

After the win over the Rams at Pride Park, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that the plan was to find another loan for Pellistri, in order to continue his development with further exposure to senior football on a regular basis.

The boss also spoke about the qualities that our no.28 possesses.

“I thought he was bright, of course he takes his goal really well,” Solskjaer said on the 19-year-old last month.

“I think he shows what he is, he’s a difficult player to play against. One against one he can go past people and I’m very pleased with him.”

Everybody at United wishes Facundo all the best this season and we will be tracking his progress closely.
