Facundo Pellistri scored the opening goal for Granada in La Liga on Sunday, as the relegation-haunted Andalusians beat Osasuna 3-0.

Pellistri, who joined the top-flight outfit on loan for the remainder of the season in January, smashed the ball into the roof of the net with half an hour gone to give Granada the lead at Nuevo Los Carmenes.

It was an impressive effort, considering it was just the fourth senior competitive strike of Pellistri's fledgling career, after two for first club Penarol.

He did also score for Granada against Barcelona at the Estadi Olimpic back in February, during an exciting 3-3 draw with the reigning champions.

The Uruguay international played 80 minutes as further goals from Myrto Uzuni and Lucas Boye helped keep the Andalusians' faint hopes of survival alive.

Granada could have been relegated at the weekend, had results gone differently, but they are now 10 points adrift of Celta Vigo in the final safe spot, with five games to go.

Pellistri has featured in 10 of Granada's 11 games since his loan move was agreed, also registering two assists in a team that has struggled to regularly find the net this term, especially away from home.

Before his spell in Spain, the 22-year-old winger managed 366 minutes across 14 games for United in 2023/24, including starts against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and Carabao Cup.
