What we learned from Terland’s signing interview
Manchester United fans can now watch Elisabeth Terland’s first interview as a Red, exclusively on ManUtd.com and in the United App.
The Norway international striker became our women’s team’s third signing of the transfer window when she arrived at the club earlier this summer, following two seasons at fellow WSL outfit Brighton & Hove Albion.
Terland will have no doubt made a name for herself among the United fans during her spell on the south coast – which included scoring against the Reds – and watching the forward’s maiden one-to-one conversation with club media is the perfect way to find out more about her, now that she's on our side.
You can enjoy it in its entirety below, while we've also picked out five things you can learn about our new no.19 by watching the freshly released chat...
Elisabeth Terland | The Interview
Elisabeth Terland is all smiles as she talks about life at United! Watch our summer signing's first interview now...
SHE’S A LIFELONG UNITED FAN
As Elisabeth tells us how it feels to be a United player, she explains that she has been a lifelong supporter of the club and that it is brilliant to now be a Red. “It feels great [to be at United]. I’ve been a fan my whole life, it’s just amazing being here,” the 23-year-old says to club media’s Helen Rowe-Willcocks. The stuff of dreams!
SETTLING IN HAS BEEN SIMPLE
If you have seen fellow summer recruit Dominique Janssen’s signing interview since it was released last week, you’ll know that our first incoming of the window couldn’t speak highly enough of the warm welcome she’s had at United. Elisabeth had a similarly positive review of her new environment too, telling us: “It’s been great. The people here are really nice, and I feel at home already basically, so that’s always a good feeling to have. I’m excited to keep working hard and just get going.”
MANCHESTER IS ALREADY HOME
While Terland has been adjusting to a new team, she has already thrown herself into the heart of her new surroundings, by finding somewhere to live in Manchester. “I’ve moved into the city,” the 23-year-old replies, when asked if she’s had chance to have a look around. “It’s bigger than Brighton, where I came from, much more going on. So, I like it so far.”
THE TARGET IS TO ACHIEVE BIG THINGS
“I came to a club that wants to achieve big things and wants to do really well, hopefully I can play a huge part in doing that.” Sounds good to us, Elisabeth! Only Man City’s Khadija Shaw netted more goals in the WSL last season than Terland’s 13, so our new striker will no doubt be champing at the bit to play her part in the forthcoming campaign for Marc Skinner’s Reds.
ELISABETH CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU!
As mentioned earlier, the Norwegian has had previous experience of facing United, and therefore knows how well her new team is followed, both home and away. Judging by her responses on the fan base towards the conclusion of our interview, it’s safe to say that she’s looking forward to experiencing that as a Red in times ahead.
“I’ve played against them a few times now and I can really understand what people say when they talk about the fans, how big they are and how hugely important they can be,” she says. “So, I’m really excited to meet them all.”
