Women's fixture changes in October

Manchester United Women’s two league fixtures in October have been changed, in the latest round of broadcast picks.

The Reds open the month with a mouthwatering clash against reigning Barclays WSL champions Chelsea, at Leigh Sports Village.

That game has been selected for coverage on BBC Three and is set to kick off at 19:30 BST on Friday 3 October.

This slot is, however, subject to the progress of Leigh Leopards in the Super League play-offs.

The Leopards – who also count LSV as home – have qualified for the next stage of rugby league’s top tournament, but their exact schedule is yet to be confirmed.

Marc Skinner’s side will be looking for a first-ever WSL victory over the Blues, who have lifted the trophy at the end of each of our six seasons in the competition.

One fixture that can definitively be confirmed is United’s trip to Everton the following week.

The Toffees now call Goodison Park their permanent home, following the departure of the men’s team from the famous old stadium after 133 years.

Our visit to Merseyside will, however, involve an introduction to Hill Dickinson Stadium, as Everton Women make their debut there.

Sky Sports have picked up the rights to that one and kick-off is scheduled for midday on Sunday 12 October.

United do not play again in the WSL until November, with the remaining weekends in October blocked out for international matches.
