Fred reaches 200 United appearances

Wednesday 05 April 2023 22:15

Manchester United midfielder Fred made his 200th appearance for the club in tonight’s Premier League match against Brentford at Old Trafford.

Our no.17 came on in the 71st minute of our 1-0 triumph over the Bees, as Erik ten Hag's side got back to winning ways following Sunday’s loss at Newcastle.

Fred is the first Brazilian to achieve the feat, and only the second-ever South American player to do it, after former Reds captain and Ecuador international Antonio Valencia.

United are back to winning ways in the Premier League, thanks to Marcus Rashford's strike.

Following this evening’s match, Fred has now featured 43 times for Ten Hag’s team this season, playing across the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and the Europa League.

His six goals so far in 2022/23 – all of which have come at the Theatre of Dreams – mark his best scoring term for the club so far.
Since signing from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018, the 30-year-old has very much made himself at home in Manchester, and gone on to show his qualities on both the club and international stage.

The first of his United appearances came in a Premier League opening-night win over Leicester City in August 2018, while his first goal followed in the next month, at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Our no.17 brought up 100 league matches for the Reds during last season’s Old Trafford match against Leicester and has now reached a double century for the club across all competitions this evening, also in front of our home supporters.

Congratulations on the amazing achievement, Fred!
