Manchester United captain Harry Maguire hopes the players can our make fans proud when we take on Manchester City in Saturday's Emirates FA Cup final.

The Reds faithful have been key to picking up some big results this season - particularly at Old Trafford.

Now our no.5 wants to give them something to really cheer about when they descend on Wembley Way for the third time this season, following February's Carabao Cup triumph and the semi-final victory in this competition over Brighton in April.

“The fans have been right with us throughout the season and I think they’ve been really important to the success that we’ve had and the positive results that we’ve had,” he told MUTV.

“I think we’ve seen at Old Trafford, our results have been amazing so we know at Wembley they’re going to be there, they’re going to be loud and it’s a day that we hope we can do them proud.”

Harry Maguire is relishing United's Emirates FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City...

Our skipper thinks the players and fans have reconnected over the course of our campaign, adding: “I think the fans at this club are a huge part of the club, they’re right behind the team, you can feel the energy and the intensity that they bring to the matches as well.

“I think obviously last season was such a disappointing year for us all, as players and staff, as fans, just as a club in general, so to bounce back in such a positive manner, I think it’s really, really impressive."
The Reds are vying for a cup double following our success in the Carabao Cup earlier this year, with the experience of winning at Wembley poised to serve us well this weekend.

“Experience is a huge thing in football, being there and playing in these big matches, these big pressure moments, it’s really important to have that experience on your side,” Maguire added.

“I think across our team now, if you look at our team, we’ve got lads who have won big trophies and lots who have played in a lot of finals, so it’s a good balance of the squad. We’re ready to give it everything.”

How United can make club history

In Saturday’s final, the Reds will be pursuing a particular domestic-cup feat that we’ve never achieved before.

Harry still sees it as a ‘dream’ to represent United at Wembley, despite having walked out there on several occasions now for club and country.

“For myself, it’s a dream to play at Wembley,” he said. “It’s something as a child coming from this country, you dream of playing there as a young boy and I’ve been lucky enough to play there numerous times.”

He will be in contention to lead the Reds out on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 BST.
