Manchester United fans pose on the adidas Predator Edge throne outside Old Trafford

How we changed the game at Old Trafford

On Sunday 27 March, Manchester United Women took to the Old Trafford pitch in the Women’s Super League and delivered a thrilling 3-1 victory over Everton thanks to two great goals from Alessia Russo and an emphatic penalty converted by the club captain Katie Zelem.

But it wasn’t just on the pitch where the Reds put on a great show, as adidas also worked closely with the club to celebrate the match outside the stadium with something truly unique.

The East Stand window was reimagined and displayed a graphic of the women’s team, accompanied by the slogan “This is Power.”
The ‘This is Power’ campaign celebrates the launch of the new Predator Edge football boot, which is designed to provide more power and control, and ultimately change your game.

This ties in nicely with the club's ‘Change The Game’ campaign, which was launched earlier this month to celebrate all of the incredible women who drive gender equality across Manchester United, both on and off the pitch. You can read more about 'Change The Game' here.

To celebrate the campaign and the game, which was United Women's first fixture in front of fans at Old Trafford, adidas teamed up with artist Lydia Chan to create a truly unique throne that was created primarily from their latest iteration of the iconic Predator silhouette, the Predator Edge.
Lydia specialises in set designs, and being a formidable female designer herself, it’s fitting that the throne was created to celebrate our trailblazing women’s team.

With only a few versions of the thrones existing, they have been on display in other iconic cities such as Paris, Berlin and London.

The boots feature an array of state-of-the-art technology that improves power and control, and the throne mirrors those characteristics in our women’s team. They’re in charge and they’re changing the game.
Were you at Old Trafford for the game? Be sure to tag us over on @weareunited, whether you were in the stands or got a snap on the throne, we want to see how you were celebrating the day!
