The match will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports, with kick-off scheduled for 19:45 BST. MUTV will provide exclusive build-up from 18:40 BST, with team news, discussions with ex-players, and live radio commentary throughout the game.

TEAM NEWS

Raphael Varane and Scott McTominay both returned to the United starting XI for the trip to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, having missed the 3-2 win over Norwich last week.

Edinson Cavani and Fred remain doubts, although the Brazilian could make his comeback, while Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba are expected to be ruled out of the Reds’ squad for Thursday evening’s fixture.

We will get more information about Ralf’s team news when the German gives his pre-match press conference ahead of the fixture.

This will be broadcast on MUTV, probably on Wednesday, with team news updates also being available on ManUtd.com and on the Official App.

For the visitors, Thomas Tuchel was without important duo Mateo Kovacic and Antonio Rudiger for Sunday’s Premier League match against West Ham United, while Andreas Christensen was also ruled out after suffering an injury during the warm-up.

Chelsea’s long-term absentees Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Chilwell remain sidelined for the Blues and are not expected to be available for several weeks.

Raphael Varane returned on Saturday to make his 26th appearance for the club since his arrival.

FORM GUIDE

United enter this fixture following two defeats in the space of five days. Rangnick’s side were defeated 4-0 by Liverpool last Tuesday, before falling to a 3-1 loss against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal on Saturday.

The Reds do, however, have the opportunity to record a second consecutive home win, having defeated Norwich at Old Trafford in the last game at the Theatre of Dreams on April 16.

Chelsea travel to Manchester on the back of beating 10-man West Ham 1-0 on Sunday in a tight Premier League affair.

Despite this win, Tuchel’s side have experienced indifferent form of late, losing 4-1 at home to Brentford at the start of the month, before dominating Southampton 6-0 the following week. The Blues have won three of their last four Premier League matches away from Stamford Bridge, and enter this one with the intention of strengthening their grip on the third-place spot in the table.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Last time out, United and Chelsea drew 1-1, with goals coming from Jadon Sancho and Jorginho in the fixture at Stamford Bridge in November.

The last three clashes between the side have produced only two goals, with the two meetings before November’s draw both ending 0-0.

The last two victories in this fixture have been earned by the Reds, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side did the league double over the Blues with a 2-0 away win and a 4-0 home win in the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Overall, Chelsea’s 18 wins (12 at home) marginally edge United’s 17 (11 at home). Ahead of the 60th Premier League meeting between the sides, the Reds have the opportunity to level things up.
