What fans need to know for United v Spurs

Friday 11 March 2022 18:30

Will you be at Old Trafford this Saturday as Manchester United take on Tottenham Hotspur?

Ahead of our Premier League game at 17:30 GMT, here's some information we feel our matchgoing fans should know...

FRANK O'FARRELL TRIBUTE

The United players will wear black armbands and the Old Trafford flags will be flying at half-mast in honour of our former manager, who passed away recently at the age of 94. Everyone at the club would like to express our sincere condolences to Frank’s family and friends at this sad time.

FOUNDATION'S 15TH ANNIVERSARY

Manchester United Foundation is celebrating 15 years since its launch, which followed a fundraising fixture between United and a UEFA all-star team in 2007. That special game at Old Trafford, featuring current first-team players Cristiano Ronaldo and Tom Heaton, will be shown in full this Sunday evening on ManUtd.com, MUTV and the United App at 20:00 GMT.

Ronaldo and Rooney starred in the match that launched MU Foundation 15 years ago - and we're streaming it for free.

The Foundation's CEO, John Shiels, will speak to Alan Keegan on the pitch at half-time to thank the fans, media, and staff for their support across the last 15 years in helping to raise more than £50million and benefit the lives of more than 100,000 children.

One of the main sources of fundraising is the United Legends matches and tickets for this year's fixture, against Liverpool at Old Trafford on 21 May, are on sale now.
NO ROOM FOR RACISM / ALL RED ALL EQUAL

This match against Tottenham will be a showcase for the Premier League’s campaign, No Room For Racism. Manchester United is committed to the fight against racism and other forms of discrimination through our All Red All Equal campaign, and we urge fans to challenge and report discriminatory behaviour wherever they see or hear it.

For any incidents inside the stadium, fans should report immediately to the nearest steward or send a message to the Virtual Steward text service on 84222 – be sure to include the stand, row and seat number of the offender and the nature of the problem.

Meanwhile the club’s reporting tool, manutd.com/seered, can be used to report any instances of discrimination online. We thank fans for their co-operation on all the above issues to make Saturday's game an enjoyable experience for everyone in and around Old Trafford.
THE FAN WHO WALKED FROM NORTHERN IRELAND

Inspired by his United hero Marcus Rashford, 10-year-old United fan Ben Dickinson has walked from Inver Park, Larne, Northern Ireland to be at Old Trafford for the match with the aim of raising money to provide 50,000 meals for kids through FareShare.

Ben has exceeded his fundraising target and will be welcomed on to the pitch ahead of the match to celebrate his achievement. In March 2020, Marcus surprised Ben during a media interview to congratulate him on his first achievement which raised £7,265 – a moment he said inspired him to take on his next challenge from Larne to Manchester.
