Tuesday 11 April 2023 16:59

The new issue of official club magazine, Inside United, hits the newsstands today, having made its debut at Old Trafford at the weekend, where it was available to buy during the Everton match.

Christian Eriksen is the issue’s cover star, returning for his second stint of the season on the front of the magazine – perfectly timed to coincide with his return to action on the pitch.

The Dane's compelling appearance on the UTD Podcast – now available in the United App and on ManUtd.com – is showcased inside the magazine, as he tells the story of how, finally, he became a United player after it seemed his chance to wear the red shirt had passed.

Christian Eriksen – “United, it was meant to be”

 podcast

Christian Eriksen has been missed in the Manchester United midfield but the Dane is on his way back and joined us for the latest episode of the UTD Podcast. The classy playmaker discusses his career to date and the rumours of a move to Old Trafford, which long circulated before he did end up joining the Reds last summer. He recalls playing in Denmark, the Netherlands and Italy, plus adjusting to the style and pace of the Premier League. He addresses the obstacles he has overcome and explains why he left Italy, swapping Inter Milan for Brentford. He admits he was bowled over by the response from football fans, in general, to his return to action and his time with the Bees helped lead to finally pulling on the United shirt, to join Erik ten Hag’s new project here. Hosts Helen Evans, Sam Homewood and David May ask about his relationship with the manager, what the future has in store for the side, his partnership with Casemiro in the midfield and, of course, when we can expect to see him back on the pitch. This is another outstanding podcast which allows you to know more about Christian – make sure you give it a listen!

The fine recent form of Bruno Fernandes – our Player of the Month for March – goes under the spotlight in the issue, while there’s a vibrant streak of youthful energy provided via interviews with exciting winger Facundo Pellistri and two players catching the eye out loan, Amad and Alvaro Fernandez.

With United Women entering a crucial and gripping phase of the season, fighting on both WSL and FA Cup fronts, the magazine hears from two of the team’s star players in Ella Toone and Leah Galton.

The women’s upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Brighton is one of many big-match previews inside the edition, with the men’s semi-final against the same opposition also scouted, as well as the Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla and the clutch of crucial Premier League games that are coming.

There’s no shortage of the classic and the legendary, either. Sir Bobby Charlton – 50 years on from playing his last games of an epic Reds career – and Sir Alex Ferguson – as he enters the Premier League Hall of Fame – are both covered, joined by Sir Matt Busby’s stalwart right-hand-man Jimmy Murphy (soon to be immortalised in statue form at Old Trafford).

There’s also an appearance from the great Rio Ferdinand, who exclusively picks out and talks through five of the most formative matches he played during his stellar Reds career.

Usain Bolt and plenty more besides also make the May edition of Inside United a must-read for Reds everywhere. It's on sale now in newsagents and shops, at the Megastore at Old Trafford, around the stadium on matchdays, and can be bought or subscribed to online via manutd.com/magazine.
