Sancho leads United's sprinting stats

Wednesday 14 June 2023 11:55

When it came to registering the most sprints in a single Premier League game for Manchester United last season, Jadon Sancho came out on top.

According to Premier League data, the winger managed 32 sprints, in total, during the 0-0 draw with Newcastle United last October.

The former Borussia Dortmund man was unlucky not to earn a penalty after being upended by Sean Longstaff in the box and was a constant threat to the Magpies' defence, although Eddie Howe's side held out for a point.

Despite the fact that Sancho's 26 sprints in the May win over Chelsea ensure he also features prominently elsewhere on the list, it is fair to say Marcus Rashford dominates much of the leading numbers.

Our leading scorer has six entries in the top 11, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka sealing second spot for his lung-busting outing against the Blues recently.

When it comes to the most dashes over the course of the league season, Rashford leads the way, with Sancho in fourth place.

Fernandes and his Portugal international team-mate Diogo Dalot also fill the top spots for noted bursts of acceleration.

Rashford's 650 sprints place him eighth overall in terms of the entire division, with only three players posting over 700 - Brighton & Hove Albion's Pervis Estupinan (781), Fulham defender Antonee Robinson (718) and Brentford forward Bryan Mbuemo (702).
