Manchester United midfielder James Garner has joined Championship side Watford on loan for the 2020/21 season.

The 19-year-old, who has already featured seven times for the first-team, embarks on his first temporary move away from the club following a successful season for Neil Wood’s side, which saw them achieve promotion in Premier League 2.

Our young midfielder is a worthy winner of the Denzil Haroun trophy after a superb season in Premier League 2.

It has been a great week for Garner, who was named the Under-23s Player of the Year for 2019/20 on Thursday. The homegrown talent scored eight goals in 10 Premier League 2 outings last term and also bagged the winner in the EFL Trophy victory at Lincoln City.

The England Under-19 international will now join up with, new Watford manager Vladimir Ivic, and could make his debut as early as this weekend, against Sheffield Wednesday.

Garner, who joined United at the age of eight, is the sixth player to make a temporary move away from the club during the window as the Academy continues to prioritise individual player development.

Everybody at United would like to wish James the best of luck this term as we follow his progress at Vicarage Road.
