Rashford wins 2019/20 Goal of the Season

Marcus Rashford has won the award for the 2019/20 Manchester United Goal-of-the-Season.

The forward, who netted 22 goals in 44 matches last term, saved his very best strike of the campaign for last October’s Carabao Cup fourth round-meeting with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, when he unleashed a phenomenal free-kick from long distance.

It was one of 10 efforts selected for our Goal-of-the-Season poll last month, and the 22-year-old’s free-kick finished top of the pile by a significant margin.

Marcus secured an impressive 38.8 per cent of the vote for his cup cracker, more than double the number of people who selected second-placed Bruno Fernandes’s team effort against Brighton & Hove Albion (15.5 per cent), while Anthony Martial’s clever chip in the 3-0 victory over Watford was third with 11.3 per cent.

That was one of three goals netted by Anthony in the 10-goal shortlist, while Mason Greenwood, Odion Ighalo, Scott McTominay, Daniel James and Harry Maguire were also in the running for the award.
The award will cap an impressive 2019/20 campaign for Marcus and, despite suffering a back injury in January, our no.10 recorded his highest goal tally for a single season, moved into the top 100 appearance-makers for United and, of course, made an amazing contribution off the pitch with his charity work.

Congrats, Marcus!
