Park wins Women's Player of the Month
Jess Park has been named as our Player of the Month for February, presented by Estee Lauder.
Remarkably, it's the 24-year-old's fourth time claiming this award since joining from crosstown rivals Manchester City in the summer, following another eventful month for the midfielder.
It comes as part of a clean sweep for Jess in February, as she also claimed our Goal of the Month award for her stunner in our UEFA Women's Champions League play-off second-leg win over Atletico Madrid.
Which Park effort won Goal of the Month?
WOMEN'S GOAL OF THE MONTH | Jess Park is February's winner, for this emphatic strike against Atletico Madrid...
As part of an all-round strong month for Park, she also added another sensational strike to her tally in our Barclays Women's Super League meeting with London City Lionesses.
That was another Goal of the Month contender, given it was hit from almost exactly the same position, and into the same net, as her eventual award winner against Atleti.
She also teed up Lisa Naalsund at the start of the month, to take her total goal involvements in all competitions in her debut Reds season to 13, with plenty of games still to come this season.
Our deserved winner clocked an impressive 59 per cent of our fan vote, conducted in the United App and on ManUtd.com.
Melvine Malard and Julia Zigiotti came in joint-second place with 14 per cent of the vote each, the latter still experiencing some of the best goalscoring form of her career so far, with five goals since the start of the calendar year, including in both legs against Atleti.
Malard also had her say – to put it mildly – in that first-leg encounter, sandwiching her goal in Spain with a pair of assists for Elisabeth Terland and Zigiotti, playing a part in every bit of our 3-0 win.
Our last Player of the Month winner, Phallon Tullis-Joyce, was just behind that duo, polling 13 per cent this time around, shutting out our European opponents in both legs and recording another clean sheet against Leicester City.
But given her impact, both on our progress across competitions and our highlight reels across February, this award was always destined for Park.
Congratulations, Jess! Thank you to everyone who voted.
