Zelem: We want the fear factor at Old Trafford

Manchester United Women captain Katie Zelem believes that clubs fear playing the Reds at Leigh Sports Village, and that emotion is something she and her team-mates want opposition sides to feel when they play at Old Trafford too.

The Theatre of Dreams will stage a Manchester derby in the Women's Super League for the first time on Sunday. It will actually be our women's team's fifth fixture at the iconic venue, with the previous four all resulting in victories for the Reds.

Ahead of the historic day, on which Old Trafford's WSL attendance record is set to be broken, Zelem feels that the 'fear factor' the Reds seem to hold at LSV should be carried into games in M16.

Zelem: Why this fixture is even more special

Katie Zelem wants to break even more records against City in Sunday's WSL Manchester derby at Old Trafford...

"There are a lot of people watching when you are playing in a big stadium but I think everyone is excited," she said.

"We love playing at Old Trafford. We have had a lot of games there, and a lot of wins, so we want to make Old Trafford have the same feeling as LSV.

"I think when people come to LSV they fear playing us and that's what we want to replicate at Old Trafford."

Zelem is always proud to lead the Reds out as captain, but even more so at the Theatre of Dreams

"The Manchester derby is one of the fixtures you look for [at the start of the season] and for it to be at Old Trafford makes it even more special," she said.

"Representing United as a childhood fan is a dream come true but to play at Old Trafford, to captain the girls and score there is just an indescribable feeling.

"It is something that all the girls want to experience and to get a win at Old Trafford for us is the main thing.

"That's what we will be looking to do on Sunday. We are really excited for the occasion."
