Manchester United ended 2023 with a disappointing defeat away to Nottingham Forest.

The last 12 months have been a mixed bag for Erik ten Hag’s men, winning silverware last term but dealt a difficult hand during our current campaign.

From top appearance makers to leading goal scorers, there is plenty to admire from the last year.

APPEARANCES

No player featured in all 66 games played across the year, but one came close. Bruno Fernandes is unsurprisingly the player to feature most for the Reds, taking on the responsibility of captain at the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

Our no.8 featured in 62 games across the calendar year, followed closely by Marcus Rashford who starred in 58.

Academy product Alejandro Garnacho is also among the players to feature the most under Ten Hag, having had his breakout season last term rewarded with a long-term contract at the club.

Here were our top five appearance makers in 2023…

62 - Bruno Fernandes
58 - Marcus Rashford
51 - Antony
49 - Diogo Dalot
49 - Alejandro Garnacho

TOP SCORERS

After a standout 2022/23 campaign in particular, there is no surprise that Rashford tops the scorers list for 2023.

Our no.10 found the back of the net 22 times over the last 12 months, followed closely by captain Bruno, who made it on to the scoresheet 16 times.

Perhaps an unlikely figure to be among those leading the way for goals scored, Casemiro finds himself in the mix with 10 to his name, as do Garnacho and Scott McTominay.

Here were our top scorers in 2023…

22 - Marcus Rashford
16 - Bruno Fernandes
10 - Casemiro
8 - Alejandro Garnacho
7 - Scott McTominay

A TEAM GAME

Across the last year, the responsibility of games and scoring goals has been shared across the team. From usual starters to veterans and even Carrington graduates coming through the ranks, everyone has played their part. Last term it was all about substitutes coming off the bench and playing their part, this term it seems to be the Academy kids stepping up amid an injury crisis for Ten Hag’s men.

This has seen us use 36 different players across the 66 games - with Amad the latest to appear, during the defeat at Nottingham Forest - while 20 Reds played their part in the 105 goals (including own goals) we’ve scored, too.

Here are the standout numbers from 2023…

66 - Total games played
105 - Total goals scored
36 - Different players used
20 - Different goal scorers
