Team news for Aston Villa v United
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has provided the latest team news ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa (14:00 BST).
United are now preparing for another tricky test, this time against the Villans.
Unai Emery's side were in fine form themselves in midweek, having beaten German giants Bayern Munich 1-0 on home soil thanks to Jhon Duran's superb effort.
Erik spoke to the media following our latest European encounter, providing some clues as to who may feature in the Midlands this weekend.
Ten Hag's pre-Villa press conference
PRESS CONFERENCE | Erik addresses the media on Mount, Mainoo and more, ahead of Sunday's trip to Villa Park...
"Harry Maguire, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo. Harry and Alejandro made the squad and were capable to play some minutes, whereas Mainoo didn’t make it. It was too big a risk.
"We have to wait and see if he [Mainoo] can play on Sunday. If he is fit enough to start or be on the bench."
Mainoo was withdrawn during the defeat against Spurs, with fellow midfielder Mason Mount also suffering a knock of his own at the Theatre of Dreams.
Mount did not travel to Porto earlier this week as a precaution, and it remains to be seen whether the England international is fit enough to make the squad this weekend.
Confirmed: Travelling squad for FC Porto
ArticleThe Reds will take 23 players to Portugal for Thursday's Europa League fixture.
Elsewhere, Rasmus Hojlund returned from injury to score his first competitive goal of the season yesterday evening, smashing home past Diogo Costa.
Garnacho and Maguire both played a part in the six-goal thriller too, so we expect the trio to all be considered ahead of the Sunday's clash with Emery's side.
Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Victor Lindelof are all said to be continuing in their own individual recoveries, while Leny Yoro remains a long-term absentee for the Reds.
