Friday 04 October 2024 12:09

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday, as we take on Aston Villa in the West Midlands.

Erik ten Hag's side drew 3-3 with FC Porto on Thursday evening, in a dramatic Europa League encounter that had almost everything in terms of excitement.

Harry Maguire's injury-time leveller ensured we didn't leave Portugal empty handed, registering another point on the board in Europe this term.

After our last Premier League outing ended in defeat, the Reds will be bidding to bounce back at Villa Park, as we take on the impressive Midlanders.

Ahead of the contest with Unai Emery's side, we have compiled all the details you need to know, with TV info, team news and more listed below...

TEAM NEWS

Ten Hag reiterated that goalscorer Marcus Rashford was only taken off at half-time due to rotation against Porto, with our no.10 hoping to be involved again this weekend.

Rasmus Hojlund was also fit enough to start from the off in Portugal, with his return from injury a welcome sight for the Reds, as he also found the net.

Mason Mount did not travel with the squad as he continues to be monitored following the head injury he sustained during our 3-0 defeat to Spurs recently, also sustaining another knock.

Kobbie Mainoo is also likely to be assessed ahead of the game against the Villans, having played no part in the 3-3 draw on Thursday evening.

Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw continue to step up their own fitness from respective injury lay-offs this season. Leny Yoro remains an absentee. Skipper Bruno Fernandes is now available after his red card against Tottenham was rescinded.

THE OPPOSITION

Emery's men will be buoyed heading into Sunday's meeting, having beaten German giants Bayern Munich 1-0 on home soil in the UEFA Champions League earlier this week.

Jhon Duran's long-range effort beat Manuel Neuer with just 10 minutes left to play, sparking wild scenes following the full-time whistle in the Midlands.

In the Premier League, Villa have enjoyed a strong start to the new season, winning five and drawing one of their opening six games.

They drew 2-2 with newcomers Ipswich Town last time out and are likely to pose a real threat given the plethora of talent available to them.

Danger man Duran has six goals to his name already in all competitions this season, whilst fellow striker Ollie Watkins has four in total.
