Galton: I am so proud of this team

Manchester United forward Leah Galton has expressed her pride for her team-mates following our triumphant 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Our no.11 opened the scoring in the first half, with Alessia Russo doubling our tally shortly after.

Nikita Parris sealed all three points with a third in the second half. But despite our dominance, a sublime goal-saving block from Maya Le Tissier and a double save from Mary Earps were crucial to recording our 13th clean sheet of this campaign.

“If you watch it [the double save] back, I think it’s pretty unreal to be honest,” Galton told MUTV at full-time.

Galton: We dominated the game

Leah Galton expresses her pride following United's dominant performance against Spurs, from defence to attack...

“I think that’s what a clean sheet means to us at the minute.

“I’m so proud of the girls and everyone on the team because defence starts from the front.

“[It was] two unreal saves from Mary and a great block from Maya.”
United's quick-fire double gave the Reds the platform to see out a professional display at Leigh Sports Village, building a four-point lead at the top of the Barclays Women's Super League.

“I think if you score a couple of goals before half-time, you’re in a good way to come and just do the same thing again,” Galton added.

“I think we definitely dominated and it’s just nice to see that from the girls, especially at this time of the season as well.”
United earned our 13th clean sheet of the season against Spurs.
Spurs are continuing to fight for their WSL status at the bottom of the table, but Galton says our focus remained solely on getting the three points.

“We had one job today [Sunday] and that was to win and get a clean sheet and that’s what we did.

“I think the first half gave us the edge and we played well, so we enjoyed it.”
