Yoro trains for first time at Carrington

Friday 19 July 2024 20:03

New Manchester United defender Leny Yoro trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Friday, after completing his transfer from Lille.

The 18-year-old became Erik ten Hag’s second summer signing when his move to Old Trafford was announced on Thursday evening, and he has since wasted no time in getting to work.

Yoro linked up with his colleagues in the Friday sunshine at United’s Carrington training ground, as the Reds gear up for Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Rangers, live on MUTV. Check out our footage from the session below.

NEW SIGNING | Leny Yoro met his team-mates and got down to work at Carrington on Friday…

It remains to be seen whether the young defender will play any part in that Edinburgh clash, which gets under way at 16:00 BST, but one thing's for certain: Leny looks the part in our training colours!

United's new recruit cut a figure of focus as he got out on to the grass for the first time as a Red, and naturally he couldn't hide his smile either, as he settled into his new surroundings.

Yoro's participation offered us a first sighting of a fresh signing in action at Carrington this summer too, with Joshua Zirkzee, our men’s first incoming of the off-season, currently enjoying a break after representing the Netherlands at the European Championship in Germany.

Scotland international Scott McTominay was also involved in Friday's session, having returned from his exploits at the Euros on Wednesday, while Harry Maguire - who missed playing for England at the tournament due to injury - also took part as he continues to work towards a comeback.

Both players would make their first outings of the pre-season if they play at Murrayfield this weekend, having not been involved in our summer opener against Rosenborg in Trondheim on Monday.

The same can be said for Amad, Andre Onana and Jadon Sancho, who trained too, ahead of the trip north of the border. Be sure to keep an eye on the United App and ManUtd.com for news of the travelling squad for Saturday's fixture.
