How Liam Fray debuted United's new away kit

Tuesday 25 July 2023 14:19

It's Saturday night at a rain-soaked Tramlines festival in Sheffield and Courteeners take to the stage. What better time to debut Manchester United's brand-new away shirt for 2023/24?

That was the directive given to lead singer Liam Fray this past weekend, as he belted outed tune after tune while rocking our newest release.

Middleton-born Fray is a huge United fan, and was famously honoured when his band's song 'Not Nineteen Forever' was played at Old Trafford, as we claimed our 20th English title back in 2012/13.

Close to 30,000 fans watched on as Liam powered through a 17-song setlist, and he introduced the Reds away strip during the rousing finale.

Having just sold out Heaton Park (again) for the band's 15-year anniversary of debut album 'St Jude', it's Fray's association with the city that makes this connection so very special.

Rocking a long-sleeve edition, our 23/24 away strip looked radiant under the lights as the finer details seemed further illuminated in the dark of night.
''Headlining @tramlines whilst being asked to debut the new United shirt,'' posted the 38-year-old on Instagram.

''Crowd were incredible, from start to finish...always have been here. We're off for a bit to do some new music. See you soon and look after each other L x.''
United will debut the kit on Wednesday when a youthful side takes on League Two outfit Wrexham at the Snapdragon Stadium.
