Loan Watch: Amad scores against fellow Red

Several Manchester United players enjoyed a successful weekend in their loan spells, as one scored in a top-flight game and two others secured promotion play-off places for their respective clubs.

Amad came off the bench to score in Rangers’ 2-0 victory over Dundee United, who featured Dylan Levitt in their starting line-up.

Fresh from progressing to the Europa League final on Thursday, the Gers dominated the domestic fixture at Ibrox from start to finish.

James Tavernier opened the scoring with a penalty after 55 minutes, before Amad - who was introduced at half-time - added a second goal with just 12 minutes left to play.

The 19-year-old latched onto a superb pass from Fashion Sakala before lifting the ball coolly over Benjamin Siegrist, sealing the three points for Gio van Bronckhorst’s side.

Levitt, a regular for Dundee United this term, played the full 90 minutes but the Welsh midfielder couldn't inspire his side to a shock victory over the Scottish champions, who are six points behind Celtic in this season's title race.

In the Championship, James Garner featured once more at the heart of Nottingham Forest’s midfield for the final match of the regular season against Hull City.

An injury-time Brennan Johnson penalty was cancelled out by Keane Lewis-Potter’s equaliser just a minute later, as Steve Cooper’s side dropped to fourth in the league, having already qualified for the play-offs ahead of this fixture.

Garner is expected to feature in Forest’s play-off semi-final first leg against Sheffield United, which is set to take place on Saturday 14 May.

Tahith Chong was also in Championship action this weekend, playing 59 minutes in Birmingham City’s 2-1 defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers.

The visitors had a two-goal lead at the break thanks to John Buckley and Ben Brereton Diaz, and Chong was replaced by Jobe Bellingham - the younger brother of England star Jude - just before the hour-mark.

Birmingham, who had already confirmed their Championship status before the final day, halved the deficit with 12 minutes left to play but couldn’t find a leveller.

In the Premier League, already relegated Norwich City lost 4-0 at home to West Ham United on Sunday, with Reds loanee Brandon Williams playing the full 90 minutes.

The Canaries struggled against David Moyes' side, who moved to within three points of a Europa League place with goals from Michael Antonio and Manuel Lanzini, as well as a Said Benrahma brace.

Finally, goalkeeper Nathan Bishop featured for Mansfield Town as The Stags held eventual league champions Forest Green Rovers to a 2-2 draw at the One Call Stadium, sealing a place in the League Two play-offs.

Matty Longstaff and Jordan Bowery netted for the hosts, while Ebou Adams and Josh March were on the scoresheet for the visitors, who were confirmed as champions at the end of the match.

Bishop can now look forward to a play-off semi-final first leg against Northampton Town on Saturday 14 May.
