Ralf amazed by United support

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick says it’s “amazing” to see the manner in which the Manchester United supporters have got behind the club’s young Reds in the lead up to next week’s FA Youth Cup final.

Our Under-18s are set to face Nottingham Forest in the competition’s showpiece event on Wednesday evening with over 55,000 tickets already sold, shattering the tournament’s previous record.

With sales expected to continue in the countdown to our first appearance in the final since 2011, Rangnick was asked about the level of backing the team are set to receive in M16 during his matchday interview with MUTV's Mark Sullivan, previewing our Premier League game at Brighton at 17:30 BST.

You can see the full conversation from 10:00 BST this morning, in which the 63-year-old was asked about the number of United fans set to cheer Travis Binnion’s side on in midweek.

Fans can still join the record Youth Cup crowd

Academy head Nick Cox thanks fans as ticket sales for next Wednesday's Old Trafford final soar above the 50,000-mark.

“Again, it just shows how many people love this club, how many people identify themselves with this club,” Ralf states.

“This is just amazing, and this is one of those things that I will never forget in my life: having been able to work for a club like this.”
Ralf also had a message for our young players who will be involved as the match approaches, advising them to simply embrace what is a special opportunity with no fears or nervousness despite the huge size of the crowd.

“Just enjoy yourselves, like we did against Brentford [in the Premier League on Monday],” the 63-year-old says.

“They might play in front of 45-50,000, I heard from John Murtough before the press conference, and in a Youth Cup, to play in front of 50,000 at Old Trafford, is massive.

“It's a fantastic experience and they should just enjoy themselves and not so much be worried if they can and how they can win the game.

“[They should] just have fun and show everybody how good they are.”
