Revealed: Our Man of the Match v Everton

Saturday 02 October 2021 16:49

Bruno Fernandes won the Man of the Match award for his performance against Everton, just ahead of Anthony Martial.

The Portuguese magnifico was voted as United's best player by our supporters after the 1-1 draw with the Toffees on Saturday.

Our no.18 received 23 per cent of our fans' votes in our Official App following a performance in which Bruno registered his 50th Premier League goal contribution and his 20th assist, for Anthony Martial's opener.

Bruno, who captained the side in Harry Maguire's absence, played the full 90 minutes as the Reds looked to fight back from Andros Townsend's equaliser in the final moments of the match but, unfortunately, it wasn't to be.

Following the Man of the Match to the wire in the poll was goalscorer Martial. After his first goal for the club since his brace in the 9-0 win over Southampton in Februrary, the French international was awarded with 22 per cent of the votes by the Reds faithful, just a single per cent less than the award-winning Bruno.

Unfortunately, following a sharp first-half performance, our no.9 had to be subbed off in the 53rd minute and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained why here

David De Gea finished third in the poll, with 14 per cent of the votes. The Spanish no.1 pulled off an excellent save to deny Demarai Gray in the first half as he saved a powerful shot with a diving save to his right. There was little our experienced goalkeeper could do about Townsend's equaliser after the interval.

In fourth we find Jadon Sancho. The former Borussia Dortmund winger was electrifying as he came off the bench and our no.25 made plenty of excellent dribbles on the left wing, combining multiple times with fellow substitute Cristiano Ronaldo.

The winger received nine per cent of the supporters' votes in the poll in our Official App.
