Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has completed a deadline-day loan move to Stoke City until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old centre-back and Academy graduate has proudly made 35 appearances for the seniors to date.

Memorably, Tuanzebe wore the captain’s armband in a Carabao Cup tie against his hometown club Rochdale to achieve the rare feat of skippering United at every single age group.

Tuanzebe’s tally of United matches also includes a notable performance against Paris Saint-Germain and their world-class forward line in the Champions League.

Unfortunately, the homegrown defender has battled a series of injuries in recent years and he has not featured under Erik ten Hag as a result.

But he has been working hard on his fitness all campaign and is now looking forward to registering some minutes on loan.

The former Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year and Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year has previously been on loan at Aston Villa and Napoli.

At Stoke City and the Bet365 Stadium, Tuanzebe will play under manager Alex Neil and he joins a squad that includes former United midfielder Nick Powell.

The Potters are currently 18th in the Championship and their next fixture is against Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.

Everybody at United wishes Axel well for the rest of the season.
