Fan event #ILOVEUNITED Returns to Kolkata in India
Manchester United’s international fan event, #ILOVEUNITED, is returning to Kolkata on Sunday 16 October, as the club delivers on a promise made to its supporters in India last season.
#ILOVEUNITED Kolkata is free to attend. Fans can apply online for tickets by visiting the event page by no later than Sunday 9 October. Applications will then be entered into a ballot, with tickets issued at random. Successful applicants will be notified by email no later than Wednesday 12 October.*
United supporters in India were given the opportunity to vote for the next location of #ILOVEUNITED, after the initially planned in-market match screening was postponed due to the Covid pandemic.
Six Indian cities were shortlisted, and Kolkata emerged as the overwhelming favourite with 33 per cent of the vote.
Our three-week celebration of Manchester United commenced in India this week, and will culminate in a live match screening of the Reds' clash with Newcastle United on 16 October.
The event, held at Big Lawn Nicco Park in Kolkata from 16:00 IST, will be attended by United greats Wes Brown and Mikael Silvestre, who both ended their decorated careers in India with Kerala Blasters and Chennaiyin, respectively.
Our fans in India will play a pivotal role in our Matchday Live coverage for this fixture, which will be broadcast globally across our Manchester United channels.
And the fun doesn't stop there. Both Brown and Silvestre will be on hand to meet supporters throughout the event, with giveaways, photo opportunities and football challenges just a few of the brilliant entertainment on offer.
Over the course of the three-week celebration, we will also produce a very special edition of our UTD Podcast, with popular United fans from all over the world dropping in for exclusive interviews.
Manchester United’s CEO, Alliances and Partnerships, Victoria Timpson, praised the United support in India and is excited at the prospect of our fan event returning to Kolkata.
She said: “We love visiting our fans in India, so it was disappointing when the pandemic led to the postponement of the planned #ILOVEUNITED event in February last year.
“But it presented us with the opportunity to demonstrate to our fans in India just how much we value their support and input, by asking them to decide the next host city for #ILOVEUNITED in India.
“We have enjoyed fantastic support in Kolkata for many years and look forward to bringing the excitement of a live fan event back to the city and share the Manchester United matchday experience with thousands of passionate fans.”
