Reds ready to hit the ground running

Monday 27 June 2022 13:00

A number of Manchester United players are returning to Carrington for the beginning of pre-season, with Erik ten Hag getting a chance to meet some of his squad.

In May, the Dutchman said: “We will start pre-season on 27 June, and I will get a few of the squad, of the individual players.

“Not all the players will be coming in [on 27 June], because the ones who play internationals will have a longer break because they play longer in this current season.”

Despite the off-season, many Reds have been working hard to be ready for their return and have posted their progress on social media…

🎥 Marcus Rashford is one of many Reds who are working hard to impress Erik ten Hag in pre-season...

Marcus Rashford

Marcus has posted a series of videos on his Instagram account during the close season, showing off a variety of gym work, running and shooting.

The attacker is clearly keen to ensure he is in great condition ahead of the upcoming Tour 2022.

Jadon Sancho

The 22-year-old winger will be looking to build on his debut season with the Reds and took time out of his holiday in the USA to put in some hard yards.

Our no.25 took part in a series of shooting drills, and he will hope this practice can help add to the five goals he has so far in a United shirt next season.

Facundo Pellistri

Earlier this month, Uruguay winger Facundo Pellistri shared his training exploits on Twitter.

The 20-year-old was on loan at Spanish side Alaves last year and has been impressing for his country of late.

Axel Tuanzebe

Centre-back Axel Tuanzebe appears to be adhering to a serious physical routine ahead of his return.

The 24-year-old Academy graduate spent the second half of last season on loan at Italian side Napoli and will be eager to impress his new manager ahead of Tour 2022. If his Instagram images are anything to go by, the defender is in perfect physical condition to hit the ground running.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Aaron saw his game-time limited in the back-end of last season and will be looking to impress Ten Hag this week ahead of the trip.

The right-sided defender has been working overtime in the gym to ensure he is in peak condition for the beginning of pre-season.

Diogo Dalot

The Portuguese player's personal trainer posted a video of Diogo Dalot’s intense training regime on his Instagram over the weekend, highlighting the effort the 23-year-old is putting in ahead of linking up with the United squad.

Dalot represented Portugal in June for the UEFA Nations League, but appears to be keeping sharp during his break.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Our no.7 is renowned for his relentless dedication and this off-season has been no different. Like Dalot, Ronaldo played for Portugal in June's matches, adding to his ever-growing international goals tally.

But this hasn’t stopped him from building up his fitness. The 37-year-old has posted updates of his gym work and training with a ball on Instagram, setting a prime example to younger footballers across the globe.

Alex Telles

In South America, left-back Alex Telles is hard at it, following his commitments with Brazil.

The defender posted a video on Instagram of him running on a treadmill. The post was accompanied by the message “we never stop,” indicating the 29-year-old’s determination ahead of Tour 2022.

Scott McTominay

This week, Scott posted an image on his Instagram story, where the Scot looked in incredible physical condition.

Next season, McTominay will look to impress under Ten Hag, and our homegrown midfielder seems to be working incredibly hard to ensure he is raring to go for 2022/23.

Anthony Elanga

Just a week after the end of last season, the Sweden winger was back in the gym and shared his remarkable 63-inch box jump - just four inches off the Guinness World Record.

The 20-year-old represented Sweden in the Nations League in June - scoring his first international goal against Norway, capping a fine personal campaign.
