Reds train ahead of Atletico assignment

Manchester United have trained at Carrington ahead of Tuesday night's Champions League round-of-16 second leg with Atletico Madrid.

It promises to be a big occasion at Old Trafford for the decisive tie as the Reds seek a quarter-final place in Europe's premier competition after a 1-1 draw in the Spanish capital.

Following the pulsating 3-2 win over Tottenham on Saturday, spirits were high at our local base with the mood lifted further by the presence of Luke Shaw, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay among the group.

Luke Shaw suffered some Covid-19 symptoms after contracting the virus.

Shaw has been absent for the last two outings, the derby with Manchester City and weekend encounter with Spurs, following a positive Covid-19 test.

Playmaker Fernandes was forced to sit things out against the north Londoners but was back training on Monday morning.

McTominay has had a calf injury, which was the reason behind his absence against Tottenham, but was also back, taking part in the session.

Rangnick will address the media at a press conference at 14:00 GMT and bring us more insight into his plans for the visit of the Spanish champions.

Atletico have already confirmed their travelling squad for Manchester, and will train at Old Trafford this evening in preparation for the big game.
