How to watch United – twice! – this weekend

Tuesday 26 July 2022 13:54

The Reds’ pre-season preparations are set to continue with back-to-back friendlies against Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano this weekend – which you can watch live in the United App.

Erik ten Hag’s men have just returned from a positive trip to Thailand and Australia, where wins over Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace were registered, plus a draw with Aston Villa.

After landing in Manchester on Sunday, the squad was granted a day off on Monday before returning to Carrington on Tuesday morning to continue what has been an excellent pre-season camp so far.

Ten Hag is currently implementing his philosophy on the group and assessing every player ahead of the new campaign. This weekend’s two matches against Atletico and Rayo will aid that mission, with the manager expected to field different teams in each of the games.

Erik and the squad will firstly fly to Oslo, Norway, to face a Diego Simeone team that will undoubtedly provide a stern challenge.

Kick-off at the Ullevaal Stadion is scheduled for 12:45 BST on Saturday and our live broadcast will begin an hour earlier, so make sure you tune in via the United App.

Of course, Atletico are a side that we know well from last season’s two meetings in the Champions League: a 1-1 draw in Madrid and a slender 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

Our opponents on Sunday, Rayo Vallecano, will be less familiar to supporters, although you will no doubt recognise two members of their squad in former United men Bebe and Radamel Falcao.

Rayo will visit the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday and kick-off against the Spanish side is set for 16:00 BST. Once again, our live broadcast of the match will begin an hour earlier via the United App.
Tickets for Sunday’s match are selling fast and on Monday we confirmed that over 60,000 have already been sold, with fans eager to attend Ten Hag’s first home match as United manager.

We will also welcome just over 10,000 young Reds, following the launch of a complimentary ticket scheme to give local schools and clubs in the vicinity the opportunity to watch United for free.

If you can’t make it to M16, don’t fear: both of this weekend’s matches will be shown live in the United App, on ManUtd.com and via MUTV
