Ole reveals team news for Huddersfield trip

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on his team news for Manchester United's final away game of the season, at Huddersfield Town on Sunday.

There was some encouragement on Eric Bailly's situation, even if the Ivory Coast international is out of the final two games and also his country's Africa Cup of Nations tournament in the summer.

Although Marcus Rashford has been in training this week, after coming off against Chelsea with a shoulder injury, Academy youngster Mason Greenwood would have been an option in attack. However, the 17-year-old is unavailable for this weekend, even though he may be fit for the visit of Cardiff City on the final day.

Ole also suggested during his press conference that Sergio Romero tweaked his knee during the week.

Mason Greenwood is not an option for the clash against the Terriers.

"Eric [Bailly] has probably been the one smiling the most out of all of us because you fear the worst," Ole told MUTV, in response to the centre-back's knee injury last time out. "You fear the cruciate. You’re always worried that it might be nine or 12 months out, but we think he’ll be back for pre-season, so that’s positive.

"There are a few little niggles, so let’s count the numbers on Sunday morning, I reckon. Mason [Greenwood] started off this week training but then he’s out injured again, unfortunately.

"We were looking at bringing him into the squad for the last two games – maybe he’ll make the last one [against Cardiff].”

Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard were absent for the Old Trafford draw with Chelsea, a result that dealt a blow to United's hopes of finishing in the top four. There have also been reports that Romelu Lukaku could be nursing an injury but the striker will hope to help the Reds' cause.

Youngsters Lee O'Connor, James Garner, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong trained with the first team this week, along with club captain Antonio Valencia.

Realistically, United must win at Huddersfield and hope results go our way elsewhere to keep the battle for a Champions League spot alive.

Rashford was among the Reds pictured at the Aon Training Complex on Wednesday, despite coming off in the Chelsea game.

The Terriers have doubts over keeper Ben Hamer, midfielder Aaron Mooy and striker Laurent Depoitre.

It is a final home match in the Premier League for the West Yorkshire outfit before they drop into the Championship next term, and they will be determined to repeat last season's win over the Reds at the John Smith's Stadium to go out on a high after a disappointing campaign.
