Ole names travelling squad for Young Boys

Monday 13 September 2021 11:30

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is taking a 22-man squad to Switzerland for Manchester United's opening Champions League game against Young Boys.

Saturday's two-goal hero Cristiano Ronaldo is in the group for his first Champions League trip with the Reds since playing in the 2009 final - his last match for United during his first spell with the club.

Young striker Anthony Elanga is also included in the party, as is goalkeeper Matej Kovar, who was called into the senior Czech Republic squad during the recent international break.

Unfortunately, Edinson Cavani remains sidelined after sustaining a minor injury at Carrington in the build-up to the 4-1 win over Newcastle United.

Ole said of the Uruguay striker at the weekend: "Edinson got a knock in training. Maybe he’ll be [out for] a week or so, he’s still working his way up to full fitness from that one."

The Reds kick off our Champions League group-stage campaign in Bern on Tuesday evening and we'll bring you further team news from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's press conference on Monday afternoon around 17:20 BST.

And look out for exclusive photos from the Reds' training session at Wankdorf Stadium soon after.
