Reds duo nominated for FIFPRO Women’s XI

Wednesday 03 January 2024 15:53

Manchester United duo Ella Toone and Mary Earps have been nominated for the prestigious FIFPRo Women's World XI for 2023.

The two Reds were standout performers in the window of recognition between 1 August 2022 and 20 August 2023, with 6,000 current professionals subsequently having their say on who are the best players in the world.

Last summer, the United pair joined club captain Katie Zelem in representing England at the Women’s World Cup, where the Lionesses finished runners-up to Spain.

Toone netted a worldie to help England beat Australia - co-hosts alongside New Zealand - in the semi-finals, while Earps was awarded the Golden Glove for her efforts Down Under.

The duo were also instrumental in United’s impressive 2022/23 campaign that saw us finish second in the Women's Super League - our highest-ever final position - after taking the title race with Chelsea to the last day of the season.

We also set a new WSL record of 14 clean sheets, so Mary won the Golden Glove domestically, too.

The Reds also reached our first-ever Women's FA Cup final, in which we were narrowly defeated by Chelsea again.
