Revealed: United Women's Continental Cup fixtures

Wednesday 23 September 2020 16:38

Manchester United Women have been pitted alongside three regional rivals in Group C of the FA Women's Continental League Cup.

Casey Stoney's side have reached the semi-finals of the competition in each of the last two seasons, falling to Arsenal in 2019 and being knocked out by eventual winners Chelsea in February.

The draw for the group stage of the tournament is regionalised and this year the Reds will be up against Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City in Group C.

Casey Stoney's side topped the standings in a group featuring our city rivals and the Toffees - both WSL clubs - in 2019/20, while Championship side Liverpool were, of course, our first-ever competitive opponents, at this stage of the cup, in 2018.

The format has been slightly adjusted for this season, with six groups instead of four - five of the groups contain four teams, with three in the other. The six group winners will progress to the quarter-finals, along with the two best runners-up.

The Reds kick off the campaign on Wednesday 7 October, with a trip to Prenton Park to take on Liverpool (14:00 BST kick-off).

Another away match follows on Wednesday 4 November, when we face Everton at Walton Hall Park at 19:00 GMT. We wrap up the group on Thursday 19 November, entertaining Manchester City at Leigh Sports Village in a 19:00 GMT kick-off.
