Earps shortlisted for BBC Sports Personality of the Year award

England's no.1 has impressed this year for both club and country and this is the latest in a run of nominations to highlight her success.

Cricket star Stuart Broad, jockey Frankie Dettori, wheelchair tennis player Alfie Hewett, athlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson and golfer Rory McIlroy are the other five nominees.

Voting will take place during the show on BBC One on Tuesday 19 December, which will be held at Media City and presented by Gary Lineker, Clare Balding, Gabby Logan and Alex Scott. 

Earps has become a fan favourite due to her impressive performances for both the Reds and the Lionesses. 

The goalkeeper registered her 50th WSL clean sheet following our 1-0 win at Reading in January 2023, becoming the first-ever player to reach the milestone.

At the end of the 2022/23 season, she claimed the Women's Super League Golden Glove, having kept a record 14 clean sheets.

For England, Earps was the standout player as they reached the Women's World Cup final for the first time, playing every minute of their seven matches, conceding only four goals and keeping three clean sheets which helped her win the toutnament's Golden Glove award.

In October, our no. 27 was voted England Women's Player of the Year for 2022/2023 and finished fifth in the voting for the Ballon d'Or award - the highest spot a goalkeeper has ever achieved.
