Skinner: We played wonderfully well

Marc Skinner was delighted with Manchester United Women's 4-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday evening.

It’s the first time United have successfully notched back-to-back wins in the Women’s Super League this season and once again there were four different goalscorers.

The result sees the Reds sitting in fourth, just four points behind Arsenal and Chelsea at the top of the table.

Marc Skinner says United Women were the better side throughout, as the Reds beat Spurs 4-0 in the WSL...

ON THE PERFORMANCE

"I thought that we played wonderfully well. It’s not necessarily just our play on the ball, we had a lot of it, but I loved our energy off the ball too. I loved our attitude tonight. That was a performance worthy of the standard that we set for our team. We are a team that has to be in the face of the opponent, wants to win games. I asked them before the game to show me what they wanted to do tonight - 'show me with your body language' - and we did that. I am really pleased. The pitch didn’t allow us to play beautiful football. It’s not a bad pitch but it skipped up a little bit and that affects your decision making. You can only control the controllables."

ON BACK-TO-BACK LEAGUE WINS

"There are only nine games gone but I have been really pleased. We have lost one in 31 in the WSL – that’s incredible. It’s a crazy stat. We have an expectation at Manchester United that we should win every game but we are playing against established teams and we are catching up on them and the foundations, and we are doing a good job of it. We are four points off the top. It keeps us in the loop."

Goalscorer Hayley Ladd says the Reds are fully focused on achieving success this season...

WAS THE FIRST GOAL MALARD'S OR BLUNDELL'S?

"I am giving that to Hannah because Mel got hers. Mel is in the right position though. I have looked at it on camera and it is tight. I am just pleased that Hannah made a decision and I am glad it paid off. Mel took her goal wonderfully well tonight and her assist was excellent too. She is starting to fit into the feel of what we are."

ON UNITED'S TRAVELLING FANS

"We have just filled that whole end. I have watched many games here and I have never seen that end full. For me that shows the power of Manchester United fans. It sucks the ball in almost. Three goals in the second half are because of the power the fans have. They are unbelievable and I cannot say anything less. When I look at that, they are the most amazing thing. They make away games feel like a home game wherever we go."
