Skinner named WSL Manager of the Month
Manchester United Women head coach Marc Skinner has won the Barclays WSL Manager of the Month award for October, after masterminding the Reds to three wins from three in the league.
Skinner has been nominated for the last two months in a row, having also been shortlisted in September when he was pipped to the accolade by Aston Villa’s Carla Ward.
However, there was no stopping him this time, as WSL wins against Brighton, Leicester City and Everton, without conceding a single goal, led to the Reds’ boss being selected ahead of Arsenal’s Jonas Eidevall, Chelsea’s Denise Reddy and Manchester City’s Gareth Taylor.
United’s first league game of the month fell on 16 October, when Ella Toone notched a double and Adriana Leon and Leah Galton also scored, in an emphatic 4-0 victory over Brighton at Leigh Sports Village.
The Reds then went away to Leicester, at the King Power Stadium, where Nikita Parris’s first-half header sealed another important win which continued our 100 per cent record.
United finished October with another win, this time away to Everton. Parris netted again and was joined on the scoresheet by Galton and Hayley Ladd in a comfortable 3-0 win for the Reds.
Congratulations on your award, Marc!
