Reds show Thanksgiving gratitude for Tullis-Joyce
Manchester United Women have had Phallon Tullis-Joyce to thank for an instrumental role in Wednesday evening’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool.
Nikita Parris got the all-important goal in the first half, but it would not have been enough for the three points without a stunning reaction stop from Tullis-Joyce late in the contest.
The save – which has been doing the rounds on social media – denied a goalbound strike from Missy Bo Kearns and has gone far from unnoticed by her fellow Reds and our supporters alike.
An incredible stop from Tullis-Joyce

It is quite apt that the American’s team-mates have since been sharing their admiration and appreciation for the save on social media, as the Thanksgiving holiday – a day of gratitude - is celebrated in our keeper’s homeland today.

FEELING AT HOME IN MANCHESTER
Before the Liverpool game, Phallon sat down with MUTV’s Zarah Connolly for an interview all about her start to life at United, which you can watch in full here.
The 27-year-old joined the club in the summer and feels she is settling in nicely, in her new surroundings.
“I’m really, really liking Manchester,” Tullis-Joyce said.
“My team has been so incredibly kind, the staff [have] as well. So, I’m really enjoying my time here so far.”
'Mum was buzzing for my debut!'
Phallon Tullis-Joyce made her debut in the Conti Cup, with her proud mum following the action from the US...
The goalkeeper’s clean sheet against Liverpool was her second in two matches for the Reds, having posted a shutout on debut in the recent 7-0 Conti Cup win over Everton.
In our interview, Tullis-Joyce brilliantly recalled telling her Stateside family that she would be making her United bow in the latter fixture.
“I was really excited to have my debut and happy to get to know my team-mates on the field in a game setting,” she began.
“I immediately called me mum to let her know I was making my debut, so she knew how to stream it at home in the United States. She was so, so excited. I was about to saying buzzing, I’m already picking up on the lingo!
“She spread the news to my family, and they were all watching, I got so many texts afterwards. They’re super happy for me.”
