Continental Cup awaits for United Women

The Reds are set to take part in the group stage of the 2023/24 Continental Cup, following our elimination from the UEFA Women's Champions League.

The groups were drawn in August, with the stage at which United entered the competition still to be decided.

Had the Reds made it past Paris Saint-Germain and into the group stage of the Champions League, we wouldn't have entered the Conti Cup until the last eight.

However, following the 4-2 defeat to the French giants over two legs, United will now join the northern section of the domestic tournament.

We will be added to Group B, alongside Everton, Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Holders Arsenal, who also failed to reach the group stage of the Champions League when they were defeated by Paris FC Women, have joined Group D.

Last season's Women's Super League champions Chelsea automatically went into the Champions League group stage and thus receive a bye to the quarter-finals of the Conti Cup.

The competition started on 11 October, with City winning 2-1 at Everton and Leicester defeating Liverpool by the same scoreline at the Pirelli Stadium.

Group matches will run until the quarter-finals scheduled for February next year.

Despite the disappointment of being eliminated from the Champions League, the Conti Cup group-phase fixtures are another opportunity for Marc Skinner's side to build up some momentum to compete on all remaining fronts.
