Reds receive Lionesses call-up

Four Manchester United Women have been called up to represent England in their UEFA Women's Nations League double-header against Belgium at the end of this month.

Mary Earps, Maya Le Tissier, Ella Toone and Katie Zelem will all be heading to a sold-out King Power Stadium, in Leicester, on 27 October to face the Red Flames. Just four days later, they're set to travel to Belgium to face the same opposition in an away fixture to be held at Den Dreef.

The quartet will be joined on the trip by fellow Red Grace Clinton, who is currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur. This represents the midfielder's first call-up to senior international action after stepping up from the England Women's Under-23s squad.

The Lionesses played two games in Group One of the Nations League last month, kicking off with a 2-1 victory over Scotland, before falling to a 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands days later.

Both Earps and Zelem played a full 90 minutes in those games, with Toone coming off the bench against Scotland and receiving a place in the starting XI against the Netherlands next time out.

Le Tissier will be hoping to work her way into Sarina Wiegman's side, having started her last England game back in February against Italy, after an impressive start to the WSL this season for United. She topped this off with a crucial goal last weekend for the Reds against Leicester City.

England, who currently sit in third place in the group, could leapfrog their Belgian opposition, who currently top the tightly contested section, with two wins later this month.

If you want to follow the Reds as they turn out for their country, both games are currently scheduled to be shown live on ITV, with the home clash scheduled for a 19:45 BST kick-off on 27 October and the away fixture slated for a 19:30 GMT start on the last day of the month.

Congratulations to the Reds involved and we wish them all the best on their travels!
