Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been named Man of the Match after the Reds’ 3-0 victory over Colchester United in the Carabao Cup.

The 22-year-old scored United’s opener and laid on the assist for Anthony Martial’s third, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side booked our place in the last four of the competition.

Having almost forced in the second, an own goal by Ryan Jackson, Rashford claimed 62 per cent of your vote in our Official App.

Our no.10 now has 14 goals for the season, which is more than he has managed in any previous campaign for United, and the boss praised him after the final whistle.

“I was really pleased with him today because he kept his body language,” the Norwegian said in his post-match press conference.

Rashford now has 11 goals in his last 13 United appearances.

“They kept kicking him but he got up. He played, he ran, he had chances and made movements.

“He was a leader in the way he acted today, in the way he played. A good goal and his run set up Anthony for his goal.

“I was very pleased with Marcus and he knows that when those two or three chances in the first half go in - but that will come, it’ll definitely come.”

Harry Maguire came second in the poll with 21 per cent of the vote and the centre-back was close to opening his United account, when Colchester goalkeeper Dean Gerken tipped his powerful header over the bar towards the end of the match.

In third place, with 17 per cent, was Juan Mata.

The Spaniard played a crucial role in Martial’s goal, delicately chipping the ball to Rashford in space on the right-hand side of the box, allowing our homegrown forward to find the Frenchman at the far post.
