What will Mason Mount sing at his initiation?
Mason Mount has already picked his song for his Manchester United initiation, but our new midfielder isn't letting on the exact record he's chosen just yet.
The routine, performed by all new Reds signings, is on the horizon for Mason and he's preparing to have a go at something other than his usual karaoke staples of Ed Sheeran and Adele.
How do we know this? Well, Mason was asked a number of quickfire questions by United's social-media team following his unveiling at Carrington.
As well as touching upon music, our no.7 was also quizzed on his favourite other sport, his go-to cheat meal, his dream dinner party and more.
Watch the full three-minute video, and read Mason's answers, below to get to know him a little better...
Quickfire questions with Mason Mount
😂 Cheat meals, golf handicaps and dream dinner parties: nothing’s off the menu for Mason Mount’s quickfire questions…
Mason, what’s your go-to cheat meal?
“Cheat meal? Five Guys, I think.”
If you could be number one at another sport. Which sport would it be?
“I've got two. It'd be golf or Formula One. And I can't choose out of the both of them. It's too difficult to choose. I’m a keen golfer and I love Formula One… I’d say Formula One.”
What’s your golf handicap?
“We’re going off these questions quick, aren’t we! [laughs] I can't tell you that, I'm awful. No, I'd say around 14 to 16.”
What's the best TV series of all time, in your opinion?
“Game of Thrones.”
What’s the last song you listened to?
“It might have been Peggy Gou's new song, a house song: '(It Goes Like) Na Na Na’. It’s just come out recently.”
You’ll have your initiation coming up soon, have you got a karaoke song?
“How do you know it's coming up? You've got inside info have you? [laughs] Have I got a song? I don’t want to give my one I’ve chosen away, I’ve got to save that. But my go-to is maybe a bit of Adele or Ed Sheeran or something like that. Easy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Get everyone involved in it.”
What’s one item you can’t live without?
“One item I can't live without… I was going to say phone, but that's so bad, isn't it? It's so bad. I'm going to say… it’s a tough one. Yeah, I'd say food. I can't live about that. I always want to have something to eat.”
What’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever visited?
“Most beautiful place? I’d say the Whitsunday Islands in Australia.”
Best piece of advice you've ever been given?
“It was: Train every session like it’s your last.”
Mason Mount | The signing interview
🎬 SIGNING INTERVIEW | Watch all of Mason Mount’s conversation with Helen Evans, after the completion of his transfer…
If you could invite any three people who are dead or alive to a dream dinner party, who would your guests be?
“Oh, that's such a difficult one, because you could have so many. I'll probably go a comedian because you want a laugh don’t you? You want to have some fun, so maybe Kevin Hart. And then I'm big into my boxing, so maybe Muhammad Ali. And then maybe an actor. So I'd probably go Tom Hardy. I'm a big fan of Tom Hardy. Yeah, I'm a big fan. I feel like we’d have a good time.”
Last one: do you still take your free-kicks by kicking the valve?
“I do. I do. I try. Yeah, that was my technique when I was younger and it worked in that video. So hopefully it works now as well.”
